Singulair drug is used to treat asthma and allergy symptoms. Montelukast  is slo indicated for prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) in patients aged 15 years and older.  Singulair is used in conjunction with other asthma medications to reduce the number of acute asthma attacks when taken regularly.  .  Singulair is the first asthma controller therapy in more than 15 years indicated for children as young as two.  Singulair 4 mg comes in a convenient cherry-flavored chewable tablet.  It  was approved in February 1998 as a 5 mg cherry-flavored chewable tablet for children ages 6 to 14 and as a 10 mg tablet for adolescents and adults 15 and older for the prevention and chronic treatment of asthma.  This medicine should be taken once daily in the evening. It is very important that you continue to take your other asthma medicines unless your doctor tells you to stop.  Phenylketonuric patients should be aware that the chewable tablet for Singulair contains phenylalanine (a part of aspartame).
